About Kedarnath
Kedarnath, at 3,583 m beneath the Kedar peak, is the highest of the twelve Jyotirlingas and the holiest of the Panch Kedar. Built by the Pandavas and revived by Adi Shankaracharya, the stone temple stands at the head of the Mandakini valley. The 16 km trek from Gaurikund (or a short helicopter hop) is the defining experience of the Char Dham Yatra.
